Leading a globally operating service organization means continuously balancing standardized processes with the need for strategic evolution and operational robustness. As part of the Senior Leadership Team at Nikon SLM Solutions, I actively contribute to the company’s strategic direction and the continuous development of the global business. My focus is on building a global, customer-centric service organization that delivers near-continuous system availability — our core promise and guiding principle. In this role, I hold global P&L accountability and responsibility for governance, ensuring operational excellence, sustainable growth, and consistent execution across all regions. It‘s all about the combination of innovative thinking, advanced technical expertise, and a strong culture of collaboration. Together with around 150 highly skilled professionals across the globe, working across diverse management and organizational levels, the Global Service Leadership Team and I drive collaboration, foster excellence, and turn strategic vision into measurable results.
In my role as Vice President of Service Operations, I led the transformation toward operational excellence and the success of a global team of more than 50 professionals. With seven direct reports overseeing field service strategy implementation, back-office support at service levels 2 and 3, as well as training and knowledge management, we worked at the frontline of our diverse customer portfolio — enabling our clients to achieve success in the industrial use of their capital goods.
During my time in the wind power industry, my team and I were responsible for quality management at the generator production site, as well as the maintenance and reliability of production assets. As process owner for the 'Cost of Poor Quality,' I focused on driving efficiency by analyzing and structurally improving shop floor processes. As a member of the core operations leadership team, I contributed to defining the site’s strategic goals, developing key performance indicators, and guiding the planning and execution of long-term objectives that strengthened both quality and operational performance
A short excursion into medical technology, in which I was able to gain intensive insights into the implementation of the requirements of ISO13485 in the service for medical devices and audited these in the corresponding business unit.
As Head of Service Operations, I led a team of around 40 professionals supporting our entire customer portfolio throughout the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of our full product range across Europe and Asia. As part of the Service and Solutions Leadership Team, I contributed to shaping the organization’s structure and driving initiatives to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and service performance on a global scale
In this role, I was responsible not only for the strategic development of the supplier portfolio but also for ensuring compliance with regulatory and normative requirements across the entire supply chain for industrial 3D printing systems.
In my first management role, I led a team of around 15 professionals responsible for all core quality management activities in an industrial manufacturing environment. From risk-based analysis of production processes and shop floor quality assurance through measuring equipment management to strategic customer support, we ensured compliance with key VDA and IATF16949 standards across the organization.
In this role, I was responsible for customer support for Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs, and played an active role in analytical problem solving, the sampling process, and process auditing, all in accordance with IATF16949 requirements
