Just like my father has done for more than 35 years, I work with heart and soul for ExxonMobil. First in production as a shift operator, later as a maintenance shift technician and control room (DCS) operator. After about 7 years this episode was followed by assisting with the implementation of a new Tier 1 best practice (ExxonMobil Worldwide) as an employee in the shut-down team. After this I got a special assignment to replace a colleague who went to America to start the largest LDPE production line in the world at Lake Charles Louisiana. From next month (October 2019) I will return “home” to the production department. I will gladly share the experience I have gained recently with the new generation of colleagues who, like me, want to operate our installations in a safe and efficient manner. I have also been nominated to start a 100kTa autoclave LDPE-EVA production line in Quanzhou China in the second part of 2020. Chinese colleagues from Sinochem will travel to our site in Antwerp at the end of this year. Here we will train them in operating and maintaining an LDPE plant. When their plant is ready (end of 2020) we will go to Quanzhou to assist with commissioning and starting up the plant. I am always trying to see what is coming my way and will continue to gain experience in every job that crosses my path. Keep on learning and share your learnings! And most important, keep it safe!
Become one of the stakeholders in this operations team to share experiences and train the new hires. Always nice to give examples and knowledge from abroad (both ExxonMobil and other manufacturing sites worldwide)
