As an intern at the sustainability office, my job includes many roles that drive the implementation of the University of Torontos ambitious 10-year Sustainability Strategic Plan. This plan is designed to cultivate a culture of sustainability within the community, fostering meaningful change across academic, research, and campus engagement initiatives. Some of these plans include the measurement of GHG emissions, defining and calculating scope 3 emissions, and monitoring/organizing green finances within the University.
During my internship at KPMG, I worked across both the ESG and insurance consulting departments. In the ESG team, I supported the development of proposals for financial institutions and contributed to the preparation of ESG reports aligned with global standards such as GRI, TCFD, and SFDR Article 8. I conducted research on evolving regulations, performed peer benchmarking, and used the KPMG ESG IQ tool to validate clients’ adherence to social requirements. Alongside my ESG work, I was invited to support a project in the management consulting team. There, I participated in client-facing workshops, conducted stakeholder interviews, and developed a customer journey presentation identifying key pain points, benchmarking insights, and actionable recommendations. This experience strengthened my consulting skills and broadened my exposure to cross-functional client engagements.
Trainer Platoon SGT Developed public speaking and communication skills that has allowed me to continuously adapt to whomever I am speaking/working with. As a trainer, I have had the opportunity to meet many different kinds of people from different cultures and upbringings which has given me a better understanding of how to interact or respond to those around me in a meaningful manner. I believe this has allowed me to work efficiently in any group or setting.
