Investigated mechanisms of gene regulation using iPSC models of Parkinson's disease.
My thesis work focused on how the transcription factor, Heat Shock Factor 1 (HSF1), is implicated in excitatory synapse regulation, particularly in the context of neurodegeneration and Huntington’s disease (HD). Advised by Dr. Rocio Gomez-Pastor
Used the model organism C. elegans to investigate genetic mechanisms that regulate behaviors contributing to neurological disorders. Advised by Dr. Jon Pierce (faculty mentor) and Dr. Jesse Cohn (graduate mentor).
