After having developed real-time embedded softwares and managed projects in the defense and aeronautic fields, I moved to the energy and electrical grid management domains. I have been quickly spurred on by the new functional and technical challenges coming out in these areas. I led the integration of SCADA/EMS (Energy Management System) projects, took parts in defining service oriented architectures for tendering (technical offers) and then, evolve to manage and deliver as technical lead larger projects involving distributed teams in a complex and international environment. Since 2012, I lead teams of engineers with cross-functional and technical skills working on smart grid, energy markets and smart city projects. We develop and deliver innovative solutions integrated with Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Market Management Systems (MMS) in order to facilitate the insertion of Distributed Energy Resource (DER). This activity goes along with the progress in Big Data oriented solutions, distributed architectures and is in line with recommendations from working groups such as CIGRE (D2.24) and IEC (TC57 IEC61850 & CIM). I have now over 20 years of experience in industrial software management on commercial projects or in R&D programs, following waterfall, iterative or Scrum/Agile development approaches. Above all, I'm interested in the business use cases and enjoy building software architecture to cover functional needs. I take each opportunity to propose improvements in light of possibilities offered by the latest software and analytics frameworks. Responsible of an engineering team developing and delivering a Local Energy Market platform aiming at trading energy flexibilities exposed by DER and coordinating their activations to serve the needs of distribution and transmission grid operators.
Responsible of the engineering teams developing and delivering Smart Grid & Analytics solutions on transmission, distribution and energy market areas in the European and African regions
■ Manager of a team of software and optimization engineers and PhDs developing and delivering projects focused on Distributed Energy Resource Management (DERMS) in the smart grid, energy market and smart city areas. ■ Release, development manager and architect of a R&D software solution for DER data management based on big data oriented technology stacks (Cassandra, Kafka, ...). Solution exposed as SaaS or deployed on premises and whose aim is to facilitate the integration of various DER technologies (renewable energy, electrical storage, demand response) by analyzing their operational data, scheduling and exposing their energy flexibilities to grid operators (DSO or TSO).
■ Technical lead: in charge of the system technical delivery, lead software and infrastructure teams (onshore, offshore). Responsible of these 2 projects: - Renewal of the information system monitoring and controlling the Norwegian electricity transmission network (delivered to STATNETT - ~10000md) - IPES: system monitoring and estimating the generation of all wind/solar farms in France (delivered to RTE in 12 months - ~400md) ■ Solution architect: - takes part in writing offers for European TSOs - uses his SCADA/EMS expertise to define the software and hardware architecture - performs live product demonstrations in the tendering phase ■ System integrator (May 2007 – September 2008): integration of SCADA and power system applications as part of the delivery, installation and commissionning of SCADA/EMS (Energy Management System) for the following TSOs: - ENERGINET.DK – Denmark (National Control Center) - UKRENERGO – Ukraine (National Control Center)
