In 1995 I completed my mathematics diploma at the Swiss Federal institute of Technology. I obtained my PhD in mathematics in 1999 and in 2000 worked one year at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, USA, to teach and to do research. In 2001 I decided to come back to Switzerland and started to work in Reinsurance at PartnerRe. I started as a junior underwriter in the Catastrophe department. In 2003 I became underwriter, in 2005 member of management and in 2006 Senior Underwriter. I was responsible for the catastrophe business for the following countries: France, Belgium, Scandinavia and Asia (included Japan), but I also worked on contracts from the following countries: United States, Caribbean Islands, Greece, Cyprus, Latin America and East Europe. After more than six years I found a new challenges and I joined SwissRe in Asia. I am working in Beijing since 1st April 2008. I spent more than 6 year in Beijing and enjoyed the dynamic Chinese Insurance market. In 2011 I took the lead of the Greater China and South Korea property treaty team. End of 2014, I came back in my home country and worked on establishing a strong portfolio management for the EMEA property treaty. I developed method, established action plan and executed them to improve the profitability of our portfolio. This included as much underwriting steering as people strategy. From 2018, I coming back to the front in leading the South Europe & MEA property treaty team. I am looking forwards to drive our effort to reduce the protection gap these countries are facing.
Leading a team of up to 9 underwriters managing the South Europe/Middle East/ Africa property treaty business and member of the EMEA property treaty management team.
During the last years in this position my main taks and goals were: - work within the EMEA property leadership team to develop and implement our new strategy - create an effective EMEA property treaty portfolio management, including actions and results in steering our book to the most profitable pockets of revenue and gain all stakeholders support - coach, train and drive a broad team geographical spread of property underwriters - act as referral body - regularly deputize the EMEA property hub head in 2015 I acted as "ad interim" property desk head for Germany and CEE and currently as "ad interim" property desk head for London desk (including Lloyd's business)
As at 1st July 2011 I am leading of a team of 7 underwriters, member of Asia property management team and Beijing office management team. As 1st Jan 2009 I am handling several account in South Korea and managed the last property renewal. Since April 2009 I am part of a trained expert in Nat Cat underwriting @ SwissRe. As 1st July 2008 I am responsible for Taiwan and Hong Kong Market and handle several account in China including one of our major client. Starting 1st April 2008, I joint Swiss Re as a property and engineering senior underwriter.
End March 2008 I will leave PartnerRe 2007 Senior Underwriter in the Business Unit Catastrophe at Partner Re Responsible for France, Belgium, Asia and North Europe Market. 2006 Senior Underwriter in the Business Unit Catastrophe at Partner Re Responsible for North European and Asian Markets (including Japan). I was assigned some new markets and have to take charge of the Japanese market that is our second larger market. April 2006 Senior Underwriter in the Business Unit Catastrophe at Partner Re Responsible for North Europe, East Europe, Latin American and Greater ChinaMarket. I became completely independent in my daily work, having my own markets. I also received the right to sign some contract with a limit of capacity. I am now also in charge of the training and the technical development of the new assistant underwriter.
