Role includes serving customers, staffing the checkout, sorting and displaying stock, recording transactions. Supervisory duties include locking up, organising volunteers and making stock decisions. * Creativity I often design the window displays and point of sale displays in the shop. This has to take into account current organisational priorities and the availability of stock. * Leadership Skills On frequent occasions I organise the work of the shop, including pricing stock and organising the work of volunteers. * Integrity On days when I supervise the shop, I take all responsibility for till receipts, pricing decisions and staff expense claims.
Overseeing cash work, general shop management and overall unit presentation.
Role includes invoice and payment processing, data input, client record keeping, organisational timetabling, report writing. * Time Management As this role is only four hours per week, I have to effectively organise my time to make sure all tasks get completed. This means prioritising tasks as urgent, medium term or development. * Initiative As my confidence in the role grew, I successfully developed and implemented a new client database that allows for more accurate records and better data capture. * Communication skills As part of the role I have to be able to effectively communicate with a wide number of people from children to parents to early years and medical professionals.

A general admin role in a small office, providing clerical support to the Accountancy professionals. * Commercial Awareness Some of my role would involve chasing unpaid bills from creditors and clients. This often meant having wide ranging conversations, evaluating mitigating circumstances and sticking firmly to payment dates. It was an important role in the business. * Customer Service Many clients were atypical and would often need me to go that extra mile to ensure they got the sort of service they were expecting.
Role included serving food and drink, clearing tables, clean down, cashing up. * Managing difficult situations The role helped me to develop skills in handling all situations. In particular, I was able to help diffuse a violent incident in the shop by maintaining a reasonable but firm manner when dealing with an abusive customer. * Flexibility The shift system in the job would often mean working very different hours on a week to week basis. This meant that I had to adapt to constantly adapt to new working patterns and learn new tasks.
