Performing detailed safety analyses for a military aircraft platform covering several key systems. Responsibility included devising many of the processes the team used throughout the task as well as providing advice and training to the other members as they joined the team.
I have designed my own unique semi-subterranean dream house that will meet the latest Passivhaus requirements for efficiencies. The design has now received full planning permission and the build has commenced.
I undertook a wide variety of professional courses to re-train as a Sports Therapist and Soft Tissue Therapist. I created a new business and was also able to volunteer for the NHS and Macmillan, providing help to cancer patients.
I was the Engineering Lead and Requirements Manager for a complex aircraft support bid that was successfully signed at a value of £125M. - I created and managed the project's Requirements Management process and ensured that all requirements were tested and satisfied prior to bid approval and submission. This entailed working on a daily basis with the Customer. - I led the project's solution through the Engineering Life Cycle Management Phase and Design Reviews ensuring that the 'solution' met the combined Company / Customer Requirements, and was efficient, deliverable and safe.
- I produced the Engineering and Maintenance solution for a complex cross-platform capability. This included the introduction of Value Engineering techniques to realise supply chain and maintenance benefits. - Published a paper on the problems and solutions of Obsolete and Fake components within the aerospace Supply Chain. - Design Review Assessor for the new Royal Navy Destroyer maintenance support contract.
As an Executive I managed a department consisting of 45 professional Engineers across the Flight Systems / Avionic Systems / Design / Structures Disciplines. - This entailed being responsible for the team’s: strategy, current and future workload, training, budgets, recruitment, salaries, promotions, conduct, environment and Governance. - Additionally, as Flight Systems Discipline Lead, I was responsible for managing the skills mix across several BAE System's sites and projects to ensure it was appropriate currently and for the future demands.
As a Flight Systems Engineer I was involved in all phases of an aerospace project, from the system design through testing to final clearance and in-service support. - This work has included component and system safety work (Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis and Hazard Analysis), off-aircraft and on-aircraft trials and fault-finding, and direct communication with the customers during in-service support. - A major activity, covering several platforms, has been life extending components from a operational and calendar perspective. This has enabled Customers to continue to fly their aircraft beyond their original clearances.
