Currently part of a design team building an experimental nuclear reactor to advance the idea of fusion power as a source of clean, renewable energy for the future.
Engineer part of a team responsible for design, development and construction of the vacuum systems required for start-up, testing, commissioning and operation of the worlds largest nuclear fusion device. Responsible for the service vacuum system which supplies vacuum services to the many different clients all over the machine. Key interface with other departments in developing a feasible construction strategy for our equipment defining installation and testing procedures and commissioning plans for the cryostat and machine.
Mechanical design using CATIA V5. Developing an Assembly Installation Process/proceedure for In-Vessel components on the ITER Nuclear Fusion reactor.
Developing component designs using CATIA V5 for an upgrade to an existing TOKAMAK. Created concept designs for a brand new Neutral Beam Injection system for heating plasma. Working closely with other design engineers to establish thermal and structural loading of containment coil assemblies in order to improve the designs. Developing graphite and CFC plasma protection components for the coils and main vessel structure. Various other areas of design responsibility including, Cryogenic molecular pumping plant, diagnostic systems and infrastructure planning.
Wing box and trailing edge layout on A400M using CATIA V5. Layout of Carbon Fibre Stringers and Wing Skin development A350. Air Intake Assembly, Bird Strike Structure and Anti-Ice Ducting. Development of Main Seal Assembly between Upper and Lower Intake A400m.
Packaging and layout of engine bay systems including Secondary Air Injection and Engine Vacuum pipe work. Worked on new installation and modification of existing layouts.CATIA V5 engineering system products and producing detailed clash analysis reports.
