Working as an EICA Project Engineer for KMI Plus a UK joint venture providing consultancy, design and construction services to the UK Water Industry (United Utilities). The roll has included: • Liaison with Project designers, Planners, MCC Manufacturers and Software Integrators through to on site construction and supervisory personnel as well as inter-discipline co-ordination. • The specification and procurement of equipment, approval of EICA design packages and the attendance of Factory Acceptance Tests to ensure adherence to client specifications and Codes of Practice. • Adherence to project time scales and cost estimates.
EICA Commissioning Engineer / ATEX Inspection Engineer for KMI Plus a UK joint venture providing consultancy, design and construction services to the UK Water Industry (United Utilities). The position has been one of dual roles as follows: EICA Commissioning Engineer Working on Clean Water and Waste Water turnkey, refurbishment and modification projects, providing EICA commissioning and support services. The roll has involved: • Liaison with Project Engineers, all site disciplines, installation contractors, site process personnel & design consultant representatives to establish on site commissioning activities. • Supervision of onsite EICA installation works and acceptance of completed installations, attendance of FAT's • Configuration/testing of equipment including instrumentation, valves, motors & controls etc. (both traditional and Profibus based) ahead of final site acceptance tests (SAT’s). • SAT’s in conjunction with UU’s software integration contractors involving interfacing of various instrument/electrical signals to Siemens Simatic S7 PLC’s in order to fully test completed installations prior to client handover. • Completion of commissioning documentation and reports as necessary and the as-building of drawings using AutoCAD. ATEX Compliance Engineer • Development and application of an ATEX approach for KMI Plus • Physical inspections of new installations and equipment situated within potentially explosive environments. • Development and implementation of reports, Inspection schedules, Descriptive System documents etc.
Part of an ‘ATEX Audit Team’ set up to provide a consultancy based service to the client in order to achieve compliance. The work entailed a good working knowledge of equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres and their differing protection concepts Ex ia/ib, d, e, etc. A good knowledge of the ATEX directives has been gained which can be applied to new Project design work.
