I clearly remember being rather young when my parents had some friends round, and they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I replied, " be an engineer". It is a passion that has driven me to study for 5 years at university, not settling for less than a Masters degree. While at Portsmouth University, I had the opportunity to join the Formula Student team, UPRacing, and kickstart my career in the Motorsport industry. Going above and beyond what was required, I would borrow stacks of books from the library on vehicle dynamics and suspension design to be the most knowledgeable, and confident in my design decisions. As section head of Suspension, Steering, and Brakes, I took it upon myself to see the team's vehicle transform from 13" to 10" wheels for significant reduction in un-sprung mass. With a major change to our wheel's diameter, I was able to start with a blank canvas and create a superior system with all major components improved. Suspension geometry was re-designed and validated with Chassissim, resulting in extremely low camber change during bump and roll, as well as creating a high roll centre, ideal for the tight autocross tracks in Formula Student. Various specialised components were consolidated into a single part to serve various roles, reducing manufacturing costs. New relationships were built with machining companies to sponsor all components that we were unable to machine in-house. Projects were either carried out solely by myself, or project managed by me. Overall, this has led to an excellent vehicle in 2017, which we hope to be scoring in the top 20 teams at FSUK. Besides my passion for engineering and motorsport, music has always been a part of my life. Having had an excellent and inspiring instructor when I was younger, I have been able to take his lessons and apply them to both music and life. When a musical piece seemed too difficult to play, I soon learned that with patience, practice, and time that I am capable of mastering it.
