An environmental scientist and change leader with over 20 years experience in the policy and practice of climate change mitigation, urban sustainability and whole life cycle thinking. I am passionate about scaling the climate innovation, policy and financing mechanisms needed to make our cities more sustainable and to drive the energy transition. I have successfully worked with and brought together stakeholders and experts across the spectrum of business, finance, government, research and NGO in order to facilitate systems change and co-create policies, strategies, plans and solutions with lasting impact. Management and advisory for EU LIFE projects: scaling energy efficiency finance (GearUP), public sector one-stop-shops (CROSSFIT), property-linked loans (New PACE) and district energy networks (INCENT EU). I will also be assessing EU Member State building renovation plans and Social Climate Fund plans. The Sustainable Energy Finance Association (SEFA) is a Brussels-based, European Not for Profit established in 2021 accelerating the transition to a net zero carbon economy by advancing the development and financing of sustainable energy across Europe’s built environment.

In my role I project-managed from inception to adoption a series of EU environmental policy innovations and revisions, including: EU Ecolabel and Green Public Procurement product and service criteria, an Ecodesign and Energy Label solar PV preparatory study, the Level(s) EU building indicator framework, EU Taxonomy building criteria. Notable outcomes included: - State of the art revisions of product policies and criteria to reflect advances in forestry certification, agricultural practices, recycled content, design for circularity and hazardous substance avoidance. - Developing some of the first tangible circular economy criteria for buildings and for products such as textiles, IT equipment and solar PV modules and inverters. - Overcoming a policy impasse in the EU building sector by leading a process to achieve an industry consensus on a common set of sustainability performance indicators (the ´Level(s)´ framework) - Managing one of the first policy studies to analyse how EU product policies could be combined to achieve greater impact (Solar PV preparatory study) - Overcoming a policy impasse with the EU Ecolabel by devising and achieving consensus with Member States on a ´horizontal´ approach to product hazardous substance criteria Clients and partners - Client DGs: Environment, GROW, Energy, FISMA - Partners: ECHA, EU Ecolabelling Board, GPP Advisory Group, Level(s) steering group, Taxonomy TEG
In my role I pioneered the integration of environmental sustainability into place-based urban design, housing renewal, city and strategic infrastructure planning, economic regeneration and community visioning, successfully building a portfolio of clients and partnerships to deliver innovative services. My projects engaged local, regional and national government, regeneration agencies, property developers and investors, housing managers, philanthropic partners and communities in the development of long-term solutions for some of the most challenging urban regeneration areas in the UK. The Sustainable Urban Neighbourhood (SUN) Initiative was initially funded by the BRE and HCA.
