Romania
The Viral Glycoproteins group was founded in the Institute of Biochemistry in 2002, on my return to Romania, with substantial financial support from a Welcome Trust award (IRDA, 2001-2003), followed by a second grant (CRIG, 2004-2007). The group currently investigates the life-cycles of HBV and HCV, two important human pathogens affecting together more than 500 million people worldwide. Our work is focused on studying virus- host cell interactions and alternative antiviral strategies. The group works in collaboration with colleagues from University of Oxford (UK), University of Lyon (France), Clarkson University (USA).
