Steven works as Sr. Counsel at Rivian where he advises on technology transactions and helped guide Rivian’s expansion into Canada. He is also an adjunct professor at the Peter A. Allard School of Law (UBC) where he teaches business law. Steven has been named one of Canada's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers, Best Under 40 by NAPABA, and received the Medal of Good Citizenship, one of BC's highest honours for public service. He has been featured in media outlets around the world, including The Guardian, The Globe and Mail, CBC and more. As a sought-after speaker, he has delivered over 150 keynotes and workshops for organizations including Salesforce, TELUS and the Law Society of Ontario. I teach upper-year law courses at the University of British Columbia, bringing real-world corporate and in-house experience into the classroom. Courses include: • Law 446: Corporate Solicitor’s Workshop (3 credits) – An experiential capstone course for students pursuing business law, where I guide future lawyers through real-world corporate transactions and client advisory work. • Law 379: Corporate Counsel Externship (5 credits) – Guest lectures on contract drafting and negotiation, helping students bridge the gap between academic study and in-house legal practice. • Law 306D: Corporate Social Responsibility and the Law (3 credits) – Guest lectures on sustainability in practice, drawing on my work at the intersection of law, business, and social impact.
