I am a curious person willing to explore new interests through diverse mediums. One of my greatest joys in life is meeting new people and creating new memories.
SEED is an annual six-week paid internship structured holistically around introducing young high school students to the world of design. The program, which began in 2018, is an intensive deep dive into collaborative project work, office culture, and design fundamentals. I collaborated with 4 team members to work on redesigning a parking lot into a 3rd place (a place that is not home, work or school) for community members. I learned about different design and architectural practices through presentations, workshops, and field trips. Then, applied them to our projects with the help of our TA and mentors. Presented our progress, every Friday of that week, to our peers, mentors, TAs, and other supervisors. Who then shared their feedback with us which we took into account to make our project successful. The program engages an audience of Boston area high school students, rising sophomore to senior year in age, who are interested in learning about what design is, its media and methods, and the scales it involves. Explores how to translate participants’ varied and valuable observations of the world into the spatial and visual language of design. Most participants come with little to no experience with design, drawing, modeling the way a design process unfolds. All of these skills are shared as a part of this program through built references, technique workshops and iterative design assignments. Summer Program participants invest in their future by learning about tech jobs and meeting industry leaders, all while building a supportive community of sisterhood. In the 2-week Summer Immersion Program (SIP), high school students attend live, virtual classes sponsored by industry-leading companies like MetLife, Bank of America, Logitech and Synchrony. SIP students will dive into the tech world and game design, covering beginner to intermediate CS concepts, the step-by-step design process, and the basics of UX design.
