New York, New York, United States
I covered finance and business with the aim of taking the crony out of capitalism. My Bloomberg stories are here: http://bloom.bg/1HAgV3q
I managed a multi-media web site and a 170-plus year-old daily print newspaper and blogged as a LinkedIn Influencer. During my time at American Banker from May, 2011, the editorial team enjoyed a string of journalistic successes. They included winning three investigative and enterprise journalism awards each in 2011 and 2012. In 2013 we received the American Society of Business Press Editors' Gold Award for Web News and Folio Magazine's Edidie Award for Best Online News Coverage. In 2014 we were recognized for general excellence, breaking news, investigative and expository reporting by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW). We also won the Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Website.
I held various positions at Forbes over 18.5 years. These included: fact-checker, staff reporter, Japan bureau chief, investigative reporter and executive editor in charge of personal finance and Wall Street coverage. My magazine cover stories involved everything from Japan's Sony Corp. and Softbank to Goldman Sachs (twice), John Malone, the New York Stock Exchange, hedge funds, private equity, class action suits, cell phone ripoffs and retirement planning. I received the Overseas Press Club of America's award in 2006 for the best magazine business story of the year for a piece titled "The Front Line: Japan Sheds Pacifism." I also co-wrote the book "Stolen Without A Gun" (Etika Books, 2007).
