After being made redundant at Schroders i wanted to take a year out to spend quality time with my children. As a single parent i felt it was the right thing to do given the difficulties that they had faced during my period of work at Schroders where i was trying to balance work and family life. I was planning to return in March 2020 but the COVID pandemic made that very difficult.
Due to the implementation of a new investment operations and management platform, my role was no longer required and i was made redundant.
This period was a planned career break. My wife and I decided that I became the main cater of our children while giving her the opportunity to go back into the workplace after a 9 year period of bringing up our children.
