I have over 20 years of experience working in the education including over 10 years Senior Leadership experience with the last 7 as a Headteacher. I am currently mixing roles including leading on implementing Instructional Coaching within a school to improve Teaching&Learning, coaching/mentoring whilst also practising what I preach by teaching! Most recent roles include work as Associate Executive Headteacher supporting a school within the Bath & Wells MAT and Head Teacher at Wellington Eagles Primary Academy within the Ascend Learning Trust. Previously I was Headteacher at a 3-form Primary school with over 500 children and leading nearly 100 staff. I joined Sandy Lane Primary in 2017 and have taken it from a previous Inadequate judgement, with incredibly high turnover of staff and loss of numbers of children, to an Ofsted Good judgement in 2020 with stable staff and pupil numbers. Sandy Lane to become a successful school including improving results by over 50% to be above national averages including EYFS GLD results in the top 15% nationally. I'm deeply passionate about creating environments which nurture our children to achieve great success in many ways whilst also ensuring our school is central to our whole community. I have successfully developed Senior & Middle leaders to be an integral part of a school's journey and have helped them navigate their careers and achieve their career goals. Within this development, I have integrated a variety of knowledge, skills and coaching techniques learnt within my NPQEL, Steplab Instructional Coaching Training and my Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching course at Henley Business School. Previously, I have worked across a range of roles within a variety of schools - from 1 form entry rural to 6 form entry urban schools. This has given me valuable experience, knowledge and skills to utilise within my current role. Throughout my roles I have worked on improving provision for children by using current educational theory and research, advanced analytics and use of data sets, effective communication and building up strong networks with all stakeholders. If you catch me outside of work, I may be out on an adventure in my Camper Van, relaxing with a good book or following a multitude of sports - I am an avid lover of golf and rugby in particular!
I am delighted and privileged to have joined the Ascend Learning Trust as Headteacher of Wellington Eagles Primary Academy. We have started our journey towards excellence in all areas and ensuring the provision we give our pupils enables them to SOAR.
