I believe in rationalising real-world experience in ways that support students and educators on their learning journeys. As a way to give back, to re-orient my perspective through sharing ideas with other minds, and check myself from being dogmatic in my focus, I have chosen to be an Industry Mentor in my spare time with RMIT. As a Industry Mentor I am responsible for mentoring online students to successfully achieve course competency outcomes. Leveraging my industry knowledge and skills, I facilitate learning and student success by guiding, motivating and engaging students through appropriate mentoring approaches such as frequent Slack channel communications, weekly webinars, private 1-to-1 mentoring sessions, and more. As a Mentor I emphasise the practical application of concepts and methodologies to drive the development of industry-relevant skills and employability, and provide direct career advice based on the students’ course and career goals.
