Policy Achievements: - I am in the work group that develops CONOPS and policies for Abandoned, Lost or otherwise Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) in preparation for the Fisheries Act Amendment (FAB) Operations Achievements: - Planning and organising engagement sessions with stakeholders on (i) fishing gear marking to prevent ALDFG and (ii) operationalising vessel inspections for fishing licence renewal International Involvement: - Part of Singapore delegation in the 6th Meeting of the PSMA Technical Working Group on Information Exchange and 9th Meeting of the Global Record Informal Open-Ended Technical and Advisory Working Group held in Jeju, South Korea in 2026
The team contribute towards strengthening the Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) of Singapore Food Agency (SFA) through its various activities and audits. A good GRC strategy will ensure increase in an organization’s effectiveness and efficiency, as well as eliminate redundancies. I was appointed as Adjunct Examiner in the Ops Risk Management Team to conduct audits, inspections, and red teamings. My scope of work includes reviewing audit findings, identifying root causes and making recommendations for improvement.
The team safeguards Singapore’s food supply, seafood trade, and interests in international and regional fisheries forums. The team also leads strategic development and implementation of initiatives to combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, including licensing, monitoring, surveillance, and regulation of fishing vessels and gears. Courses Attended: 1) Completed "The Regional Training Course for Fisheries Inspectors in the Implementation of Port State Measures (PSM)" organised by SEAFDEC Training Department in Bangkok, Thailand 2) Completed FAO's courses on (i) Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance Systems to combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing and (ii) Agreement on Port State Measures and the framework to fight Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated fishing
