My name is Nathan Liu, a college student based in the Bay Area and currently studying at USC's Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles, California. I have a passion for law, business, and politics, and have utilized my skills in a variety of projects. As the founder of the Silvanus Foundation, I have collaborated with people from all sorts of backgrounds to accomplish our goal of creating sustainable change and inspiring others. I hope to connect and explore ways to collaborate!
The Silvanus Foundation is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to wildfire prevention, climate change awareness, and supporting the families of fallen firefighters. The foundation combines scientific research, community engagement, and arts-driven outreach to create a meaningful impact. Its initiatives include research on wildfire causes using data science and AI, public education events around sustainability, and the annual Tribute to Fallen Heroes fundraiser, which raises scholarship funds for children of California firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. Since its founding, the Silvanus Foundation has raised over $100,000, awarded 20 scholarships, and mobilized more than 120 volunteers across 18 schools. At its core, the foundation is driven by a belief in the power of young people to lead systemic change through collaboration, creativity, and a commitment to a safer, more resilient future.
As team captain, I led a squad of competitors in developing cohesive case theories, breaking down and applying the Rules of Evidence, and preparing both attorneys and witnesses for high-level competition. I coordinated practices, guided strategy, and ensured our team delivered clear, persuasive, and well-structured trial performances throughout the season. Awards: Outstanding Attorney at Arizona State University's Sundown Showdown All-Regional Witness (#1 Ranked in Region)
I analyze complex case materials, develop case theories, and craft persuasive opening statements, examinations, and closing arguments. I take on both attorney and witness roles, practicing effective courtroom communication, evidentiary objections, and strategic thinking under pressure. Through regular scrimmages and tournaments, I collaborate with my team to refine advocacy skills, think critically on my feet, and deliver polished, trial-ready performances.
