As a member of the executive management team for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago), I oversee and direct various support functions as well as the organization's human resources initiatives (including talent acquisition, leadership and succession planning, total rewards, HRIS, etc.). As the General Counsel, I am responsible for all legal matters such as health law, litigation, employment law, joint venture relationships and management agreements, tax, fraud and abuse, regulatory interpretation and guidance, intellectual property, research, operations, corporate compliance, and corporate governance. Additionally, I am responsible for the organization's cafeteria operations, insurance needs, and government and community affairs. I joined the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in 1995 as Associate General Counsel, becoming General Counsel several months later. Prior to the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, I practiced law in the areas of litigation and corporate healthcare.
