Turning “we should train the team on that” into skills that stick | Ex-Amazon & Gap | Founder & Workshop Facilitator, Leadership Lab

About

I'm a builder. Not homebuilding (though that intrigues me) and not coding (though I’m learning more of that), more like 'see a murky problem and create a new solution' type building. I run towards ambiguity. I spent 17 years at Amazon and Gap - two high performing, highly customer-obsessed cultures - building stuff. Bringing the Gap brands to the China market, growing and sunsetting Prime Now, testing the limits of Amazon’s grocery offering (through COVID no less), founding a learning and development team to plug critical skill gaps of a multi-billion-dollar producing org. I now understand the underlying skills driving those high performing, results driving teams - communication, influencing, collaboration, ownership. These are skills you are expected to be great at but are rarely taught at work. It’s why I’m now building the Leadership Lab. To teach the skills critical to success at work (and frankly life, though somehow my communication skills don’t translate to home?). The skills that help you and your team deal with tough cross-functional stakeholders, influence without authority, make decisions faster, get visibility with your leaders, and deliver results. Here's how I work: I find the skill or way of working that'll move your team the most, then build training around your real work, rooted in lived experience and immediately applicable to your day-to-day. Not passive, forget-after-the-offsite workshops. These are hands-on, do-the-work-and-see-the-results sessions. They shift perspectives and behaviors. Our content has been featured in Business Insider, has a 98% satisfaction rating from participants, and a 100% recommendation rate from our clients. Fortune 500 companies trust us to tackle the hard stuff and leave their teams with "actionable transformation" (their words, not mine!). I’m also the co-lead of the Deshmukh-Wang household, a mom of two sassy girls, and a proud connoisseur of candy (and non-judgmental dentists). Follow along for practical work advice.
