Contributing to national security intelligence, I identify and assess information generated from multiple domestic and global sources that may present critical risk to UK security interests. I hold a range of responsibilities within this specialist area including: Intelligence Assessment - I consider emerging intelligence around individuals deemed to present potential threat to national security through terrorism. I undertake broad and thorough investigation of multiple sources including secure intelligence systems and open source information. Working with intelligence partners to cross reference and share information, I form a view and make recommendations which may include the pursuit of further action to generate more intelligence or the proactive guiding of that individual towards diversionary intervention. Duty Desk - Considering all new intelligence coming into this office, I decide on next actions, recognising when there is a need for rapid response; capturing fast emerging research and briefing supervisors on risk, potential need for mitigation and advising on options available. Fusion Cell - Trained to provide dynamic response following major incidents across London, I work within a critical incident room providing a range of highly defined functions. This includes the receipt, assessment and response to large volumes of material, research and development in order to best inform and advise a dedicated briefing desk. This complex work delivers the most effective response provision; ensuring the critical information is captured and utilised effectively. Fusion Van - I serve as one of a small cadre of officers able to provide Fusion Cell function in a mobile vehicle posted at or near the scene of a major incident. This service offers secure communication and rapid updates to the most senior officers at the scene and HQ.
I identified opportunities to build and maximise community engagement and trust. This included intelligence gathering to support public protection, investigations and crime prevention. I worked in close liaison with multi-agency partners, driving performance to secure high levels of customer satisfaction and positive feedback. Delivering initiatives to develop robust relationships across diverse communities, I worked proactively to reduce anti-social behaviour, crime and fear of crime. This was a complex and varied role which required commitment to numerous meetings, panels and dedicated work with key partners across the community. This included recognising and intervening in cases where elderly or vulnerable people were ‘cuckooed’; a practice where people take over a person's home and use the property to facilitate exploitation. I ensured further preventative actions, advised on best practice and reassured the community.
Investigating highly sensitive sexual offence cases, I secured evidence to progress cases, conducting interviews and presenting evidence in court. As a single point of contact in these cases, I gathered critical information and evidence and provided thoughtful yet appropriate support.
