The conference concluded on January 24, 2014 with the signing of the NDC Document which will be enshrined in the forthcoming constitution. It guarantees freedom of expressions, religion, and nonsectarian nature of the government. It also outlaws illegal financial or arms deals, addresses the feuds that have contributed to the fueling of the Yemeni conflicts. We also agreed that Yemen should be transformed into a 6 regions federal system. The regions would be Azal, Saba, Janad and Tihama, Aden and Hadramawt. Sana’a will have a special status and not be part of any region. Aden, the former southern capital, would also have a special status.
