About

I'm currently leading a number of exciting support-related programmes and initiatives for As-Suffa Outreach. As-Suffa is a grassroots charity whose UK efforts predominantly support homeless individuals and those who are at risk of homelessness. My short-term aim is to revamp our support division to look at how we can empower and assist our service users out of poverty without creating a system of dependency with active projects in 8 cities around the UK if you want to be part of the journey and make an impact get in touch. A former science teacher and most recently Head of Programme Design and Delivery at Work Gateway. The best part of my role with WG was designing and delivering bespoke courses around an employability theme. I had the pleasure of working with a great team. We worked with a range of unemployed people and increasingly were working with more schools. As a result of Work Gateway CIC work with schools I wrote the Raising Aspirations programme which was aimed at preventing young people from becoming a NEET statistic. A programme which I had the privilege of designing with key partners. I'm also one of the directors of Greencoat Nursery - a setting which opened in January 2018 and rated Good in all areas at our first inspection in November 2021, we are deliberately going against the grain and raising the bar eg 50% of our staff are qualified teachers, the rest are a minimum of level 3 qualified and all our staff have paediatric first aid. If I can be of help in any way please drop me a message, if I can't help I usually know the right person who can.

Experience

  • Director and Operational Lead at Greencoat Nursery
    Jan 2018 - Present · 8 yrs 6 mos

Proud to lead and grow a childcare business with a different ethos /approach. We have grown to a small nursery chain and deliver childcare in some of Birmingham most deprived areas. We utilise our expertise and additional resources to narrow the gap and ensure being born and raised in areas of high deprivation doesn't have an adverse effect on the learning journey of our amazing children.

I led on a number of exciting support related programmes and initiatives for As-Suffa Outreach. As-Suffa is a grassroots charity mainly supporting homeless individuals and those who are at risk of homelessness. During my tenure I revamped the support division to look at how we can empower and assist our services users out of poverty without creating a system of dependency - with active projects in 8 cities around the UK. We also created closer working relationships with local authorities and national advocacy groups. Whilst i'm not longer in post i'm still a lifetime champion and advocate of all things As-Suffa is trying to achieve.
