I obtained my PhD at Royal Holloway University of London, where I also worked as a teaching assistant and a research assitant. Prior to that, I have a BsC in Computer Engineering and a MsC in ICT Engineering from the University of Bologna. I worked as senior researcher at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland, where I am investigated the deployment of a pervasive healthcare infrastructure for patients with non-communicable diseases. After a period working as a researcher at the BISS institute in Heerlen, while I was also employed at the Open Universiteit as assistant professor, we decided to found the Center of Actionable Research of the Open University (CAROU), that is a co-creation experience in which the university produces innovation with companies. CAROU is situated as the SSC in Heerlen. Since 2019, I am associate professor at the Open University of the Netherlands and since 2020 I started working at DHL Express as "Embedded Professor". In the role of Embedded Professor I coach data scientists towards machine learning solutions in logistics. I am interested in the following topics and many many more: -Reinforcement Learning -Machine Learning -Data Analytics -NLP -Deep Learning -Computer Vision -Multi-Agent Systems -P2P -Healthcare & Medical Informatics.
This role represents a collaboration between OUNL and DHL Express concerning the development of Data Analytics skills and machine learning research in logistics. In this role, I am acting as a researcher, but also as a coach for the Data Science team in DHL Express.
