During my career path I have gained wide experience in several projects and work settings in both academia and industry. Here are some of the most relevant tasks that I have been involved in: *Management, organization and coordination of NGS projects internally, as well as with external CROs. *Characterization of Zika virus pathogenicity at molecular levels. *Development, optimization and validation of immunological tools for mosquito-borne viruses detection. *Coordination of clinical samples transferring between different centers and countries. *Management and lead for Bioengineering final degree projects for UCSD students. *Writing and reviewing grant proposals, scientific manuscripts and SOPs. *Development, optimization, validation and implementation of DNA-based assays to identify pathogen microorganisms using an NMR system. *Investigation of molecular mechanisms by which SIV cause AIDS in non naturally infected non-human primates. *Identification of immune-related molecular pathways in host cells triggered by viral infection. *Biocontrol of pathogen microorganisms through bacteriocin addition.
• Lead Virology project investigating antiviral effects from marine-isolated compounds. • Work in the innovation of drug discovery workflow from bacteria of marine origin • Tracked, organized and supervised colaborations projects with other institutions
• Supported Sr. Operations Manager • Managed and coordinated NGS projects with Scientist, CROs and Bioinformaticians • Tracked, organized and supervised in-house projects
• Studied immune response of Zika virus-infected cells and examined antiviral pathways activated after Zika virus infection. • Analyzed RNA profile of placenta and microglia cells infected by Zika virus. • Trained and led undergrad students to perform final Bioengineering degree projects. • Managed viral laboratory and research associates to develop laboratory experiment.
• Studied host-pathogen interactions during Zika virus infection of microglia and placenta cell lines. • Optimized seroimmune diagnostic tools for Zika virus and other mosquito-borne viruses detection.
• Designed bioassays for pathogen detection using a NMR system in different matrices and environments. • Developed, validated and implemented scientific protocols for bioassays used in the lab and in the field. • Trained personnel for the use of the Biosensor system • Wrote proposals, projects and scientific papers.
• Examined the role of Tat-HIV/SIV protein in macrophages of pathogenic and non-pathogenic species using a Lentivector system. • Studied immune-activation and molecular signaling pathways in vitro after transduction of primary cells.
