I’m a Cybersecurity student at Miva Open University, and I have a bit of an obsession with the invisible systems that keep the world running such as the refineries, the power grids, data centers and the manufacturing plants. My background is in inventory and distribution, which taught me one thing very quickly: You can’t protect what you can’t see. A single blind spot in a warehouse can halt an entire operation. I’m now applying that same logic to the IT/OT bridge in critical infrastructure. The Strategy: While my long-term goal is to be an OT Security Architect securing high stakes industrial portfolios (think hedge funds and energy giants), I’m starting my journey in GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance). Why GRC? Because I believe a great defense starts with knowing how to translate technical vulnerabilities into the financial risk data that leadership actually cares about. • Quality Assurance & Secure Handling: Initially tasked with the secure preparation and packaging of inventory, maintaining strict quality control and product integrity from production to endpoint delivery. • Systems Compliance: Followed standardized operational protocols to ensure product safety and alignment with the wider distribution workflow.
• Systems Data Integrity: Maintained 100% accuracy in pricing databases and POS systems, ensuring the reliability of transactional data during high-volume operations. • Asset Protection & Compliance: Enforced strict store policies and inventory logging to mitigate shrinkage, a core principle of industrial loss prevention.
• I worked with various brands to manage how they appeared to the world. It was more than just growing a following; it was about managing a digital footprint. I acted as a gatekeeper for information, ensuring that every post and interaction was consistent with the brand’s mission while keeping an eye on the risks of being so public. Note: This role was my first real look at the power of public data. It taught me how easily a digital footprint can be mapped and why I’m convinced that security-by-design has to extend to a brand's public presence.
