The goal of this project is to obtain a thorough understanding of the correlation between the environmental caused failures and reliability of power electronic systems with focus on moisture related issues. It is desired to develop accurate models based on the physics of failure and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), which then will be used to predict reliabilities. This knowledge can be applied to produce power electronic systems of longer lifetimes. The research will be carried out in close collaboration with the companies that are associated with the Center of Reliable Power Electronics (CORPE).
