I am Olaleye Morenikejimi, a veterinary medical student, public health advocate, and passionate storyteller committed to making the world healthier for both humans and animals. My journey into health advocacy began with a simple but powerful realization: the well-being of people, animals, and the environment are deeply connected. This belief drew me into the One Health approach, where I now work to address complex challenges like antimicrobial resistance, environmental degradation, and emerging infectious diseases. Highlights of my work include: Leading grassroots antimicrobial resistance (AMR) campaigns, raising awareness in communities on the responsible use of antibiotics. Serving as an Ambassador for Ecodiversified International, championing environmental health projects that protect air, water, and land. Conducting research on the detection of ESBL E. coli in fish and seafood to improve food safety and protect public health. Writing thought-provoking op-eds as a Fellow of the African Liberty Writers Program, using storytelling to influence policy and inspire social change. Representing Nigeria as a Country Ambassador for the Global Youth Innovation Council (GYIC), collaborating with young leaders worldwide to advance innovative solutions for community development and sustainability. I believe science alone isn’t enough — it must be paired with clear communication, public engagement, and policy action. My mission is to bridge the gap between research and real-world solutions, ensuring that health interventions reach the communities that need them most.
