Mollie is a journalist with a First Class Honours in Journalism and a decade of experience in online writing. For the last three years she has worked for national newspapers including The Daily Mirror and The Daily Star. Since April 2023, Mollie has specialised in US entertainment news. Joining the small Mirror US team at the beginning of the paper's .com site launch, she has studied the US audience and knows exactly what that demographic wants to read. During her time at Mirror US, Mollie generated hundreds upon thousands of page views while honing in on her journalism and leadership skills. August 2024 saw Mollie step into an Assistant Entertainment Editor position at The US Sun where she led the entertainment team out of the London office for four months. In November 2024, Mollie took on a new role at The Sun as a senior showbiz reporter covering both UK and US news. Beginning her freelance reporting career in 2020, Mollie started off blogging in 2013, with her building a popular blog, online presence and personal brand online. With a massive fervour in writing and an unbeatable determination, Mollie is a driven, highly motivated and incredibly passionate writer, and has now had her words published in glossy magazine and popular tabloid and broadsheet newspapers, Mollie's career is only just starting.
As a senior showbiz reporter for The Sun Online, I split time between covering the latest entertainment news around the world for both the UK and US sites. Sourcing exclusives and reporting on live TV, as well as breaking the most important showbiz news and covering topics that drive traffic, I am an experienced journalist who can turn around high quality copy, fast. Not prioritising quantity over quality, I instead strive to prioritise both and can write 10 or more accurate, high quality stories in one single demanding shift. When working a day shift, I will begin by reading the handover sent by the New York team and look for showbiz stories for The US Sun. Once I get a US story written and published, I then work on UK stories until midday. I then cover US entertainment news for the rest of my shift after lunch.
In August 2024 I joined The US Sun as their London-based Assistant Entertainment Editor. Working with the SEO and audience teams, I picked the best stories for the site that would drive traffic. I led shifts and managed a small team based out of the London office. I assigned stories to reporters and wrote out detailed briefs with headlines and advice, as well as writing 4-6 stories myself, attending meetings and supporting the Entertainment Editor.
In April 2023 I joined Mirror Online's new US division as a Showbiz & TV Reporter for all things stateside. While working on this team, my role entailed: - Keeping an eye on the latest showbiz news that appealed to our target demographic - Finding stories with unique angles that hadn't been published anywhere else before - Getting exclusives from interviews and experts - Leading and running the US showbiz desk solo almost every weekend for a year - Subbing, editing and publishing the work of freelancers - Creating content plans and strategies for events such as New York Fashion Week and Taylor Swift's album launches
After a fabulous year of freelancing with the best team at Daily Star's showbiz desk from June 2021 until July 2022, I then joined as a full-time reporter where I wrote 6—8 stories per shift, watched live TV and reported on it, broke big stories such as celebrity reaction to the late Queen Elizabeth's death, and generated interesting exclusives relevant to the Daily Star's demographic. I then moved to The Mirror US as a showbiz reporter.
I pitched and was commissioned to write several personal essays for the Metro lifestyle desk, with my first byline commissioned in November 2020. The next two years then saw me get regular pieces commissioned by the first person and lifestyle desks. In June 2022 I did several shifts for the lifestyle desk where I sourced my own exclusives and interviews each day.
I worked regular shifts at Glamour UK for several months writing entertainment and lifestyle articles. I also worked on e-commerce pieces and feature commissions where I wrote op-eds.
I worked regular entertainment news shifts at Cosmopolitan UK where I pitched stories to the editor and then wrote them up. I self-published the pieces I wrote and utilised social media platforms to drive traffic to them.
