I’m a Sudanese energy leader, strategist, and founder working to bridge ambition and execution in the global energy & climate sector — with a deep focus on Africa and the Middle East. At Terra Energy (Rwanda) and Terra Advisory (Qatar), I partner with governments, development partners, and investors to develop climate strategies and bankable clean energy projects that deliver real-world impact. My background spans over a decade of experience in renewable energy, R&D, investment facilitation, and youth development. I’ve led technical assistance, policy advisory, and investment readiness work for organizations including UNCTAD, GIZ, AFD, BRD, KfW, RES4Africa, AECF, and the European Commission. I previously worked as a Project Engineer at Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) for nearly six years, where I co-led the development of Qatar’s first national renewable energy strategy (2022–2024) and oversaw technical implementation across key departments. I also serve as Chairman of the Youth Task Force at RES4Africa Foundation, where I lead efforts to amplify youth voices in Africa’s energy transition. I frequently speak and moderate at global forums, including COP27, the UN Energy Ministerial, Africa Climate Week, and high-level events organized by UNCTAD, the Rockefeller Foundation, and others. But strategy isn’t enough without the next generation. That’s why I also lead youth-centered initiatives through NextGenX Academy and Clean Energy 4 Africa — mentoring early-career professionals and designing practical learning tools to build a new wave of climate leaders across the continent. As Founding Partner of Terra Advisory, I lead the firm’s strategic direction and mission to accelerate green and inclusive growth across MENA and emerging markets. My role spans business development, recruiting, client engagement, investment facilitation, and cross-regional collaboration—building on our roots in Africa through Terra Energy. I also champion youth leadership, climate finance innovation, and the development of scalable advisory solutions aligned with sustainability goals.
The main objective of this assignment is to provide hands-on coaching and advisory services to the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) team in the context of the implementation of IREME Invest - Rwanda's largest climate fund. As Deputy Team Leader and Local Coordinator, I am co-leading the implementation of this project with the resident Team Leader from GFA Consulting Group, providing coaching and advisory services to the BRD team to develop a pipeline of climate-resilient projects. I am also overseeing the evaluation and preparation of green project appraisals, ensuring they meet climate mitigation and adaptation objectives. My responsibilities include developing tools to enhance the screening process for potential climate projects and conducting market assessments to unlock the climate potential of new and existing investments. I am also co-supervising a team of local experts.
RAISEAfrica (Renewables Accelerators for Innovative Startups and Entrepreneurs in Africa) is RES4Africa's flagship program for empowering African clean energy entrepreneurs. The program aims to support African entrepreneurs and/or innovative African startups in the renewable energy sector by developing and scaling up their businesses. The target is boost the growth of leaders who will succeed and positively impact the African market and communities through specialized focused programs and tailored financial support. I have been supporting this program since it was a pilot project, up until the formal launch of the first batch in 2024. My role as a mentor (during the pilot phase of the initiative and the first edition) was to mentor three start-ups and conduct bi-monthly sessions with them to provide guidance on business strategy, operations, business model, and fundraising. I also provide regular advice to the Foundation on how to maximize the impact of this initiative.
RES4Africa is a Foundation that works in support of Africa’s just energy transition in order to achieve the SDG7, ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. As Chairman of the Youth Task Force, I am responsible for: - Providing technical knowledge with data and information to come up and create informed and educated activities and support initiatives that fall within the scope of the Foundations' strategic vision - Supporting the promotion of activities and initiatives under the youth task force within their communication channels and networks. - Fostering debates and discussion among youth networks about shaping the future of the energy transition
I established Terra Energy in 2022 to expand my impact in Africa's energy landscape and create a platform for youth empowerment in this sector. At Terra Energy, we are dedicated to driving Africa’s sustainable development agenda by navigating the challenges of energy transition and climate resilience. Our mission is not only to advise but to work alongside our clients in executing tailored strategies that drive a transformative impact. As managing director, I am responsible for company strategy, operations management, financial management, recruitment and talent management, legal and tax compliance, risk identification and mitigation, business development, quality control and assurance, and developing strategic partnerships. My key achievements include: ✅ Established & Scaled Terra Energy as a Start-Up – Built a leading advisory firm in Rwanda specializing in energy & climate sectors, with a functional and expanding team, a pipeline of projects, and a regional reputation. ✅ Business Growth – Achieved sales growth of over $0.5 million in less than 3 years in a highly competitive consultancy market. ✅ Business Development – Led and contributed to 9 high-impact energy and climate policy projects across Africa. ✅ Advised Governments & Development Partners – Worked with over 10 government agencies, DFIs, philanthropies, and development partners in 8 countries in multidisciplinary energy and climate assignments. ✅ Supporting Startups & Innovation – Advised and mentored 6 clean energy startups and worked with founders, helping them with fundraising, market access, and scale-up strategies. ✅ Recognized Thought Leadership – Nominated for the AFSIA Solar Awards (2024) and invited to speak and moderate at 8 international events.
