About

I am a civil society and governance professional with multidisciplinary experience spanning community leadership, refugee support, communications, and international development. I currently serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees of a UK-registered charity, where I lead the strategic direction and governance oversight of programmes dedicated to poverty alleviation and community support. In this role, I oversee grant-making initiatives supporting vulnerable communities including children, youth, elderly people, and persons with disabilities, while ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance with UK charity governance standards. The organisation supports community initiatives across the United Kingdom as well as in Sudan and Chad. Alongside my governance work, I support refugees and asylum seekers through my volunteer role as a caseworker with the British Red Cross. I conduct needs assessments, facilitate referrals to essential services, and assist vulnerable individuals in navigating complex social and institutional systems. Earlier in my career, I worked as a journalist and radio programme producer with the Education Development Center on the Sudan Radio Service. My work focused on peacebuilding, civic education, governance, and community development, and involved engaging with policy experts, civil society leaders, and public officials to promote informed dialogue on social and political issues affecting Sudan. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Laws from Alneelain University and an LLM in International Law and Sustainable Development from the University of Strathclyde. I have also completed professional training in leadership and management through Alison to strengthen my governance and strategic leadership skills. I am particularly interested in initiatives that strengthen civil society, support democratic participation, and improve the resilience of communities affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty.
