Michael is the Senior Director, Customer Success for HiLabs, a Series B Venture Backed health tech startup using AI/ML products to increase the value of healthcare data to payers, providers, patients and regulators. He is the Chairman & Founder of The Maximizer Group (TMG), a startup venture studio and holding company with portfolio companies such as: WeBe Life, Inc., a well-being company expanding access to preventative mental health support, was incubated in collaboration with co-founders, Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen and Dr. Randy Phelps. Attayn Live, Inc., a virtual coaching marketplace simplifying access to coaching for the future of health, workforce development, and learning, was incubated with co-founder, Gabriel Adefolaju. AveraMaximizer, Inc., a software prototyping, development, and maintenance company scaling client solutions from Minimally Viable Product ('MVP') to enterprise-grade, was incubated with co-founder, Gabriel Adefolaju. Michael is the former Chief Innovation Officer of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the largest federal civilian agency with a ~$455 billion budget and ~450K employees. He was a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) and was responsible for leading and transforming enterprise innovation at the VA. He led the team that implemented Section 152 of the MISSION Act of 2018 which authorized the creation of a Center for Innovation for Care and Payment at the VA. Prior to his work at the VA, he was the Director of Venture Development — Health Care at Arnold Ventures, a $2B+ impact fund. Michael was the Executive Director, NGS Account Management at Elevance Health, Inc., a Fortune 25 company delivering whole-health solutions to 10's of millions of Americans, he was responsible for future proofing and scaling NGS solutions delivered to federal health agencies. He has led management consulting teams developing and implementing solutions to strategic and operational challenges facing multinational corporations. In U.S. healthcare, he has advised health systems, physician groups, academic medical centers, health plans, pharma, PBMs, startups, small businesses, federal and state health agencies. Michael started his career managing physician practices in the Washington, D.C. metro area. He earned his Master’s in Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Howard University.
Senior Director at HiLabs, a Venture Backed leading provider of AI-powered solutions to manage dirty data, unlocking its hidden potential for healthcare transformation. I am responsible for ensuring health plan customers successfully implement, adopt, and expand our data and AI solutions across core payer workflows. I focus on driving measurable outcomes for payer organizations by improving operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across multiple products and initiatives. Enabling strategic account success and expansion by partnering closely with payer stakeholders across operations, analytics, IT, and executive leadership to ensure implementations are delivered on time and aligned to each plan’s business priorities. I work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and delivery teams to translate complex healthcare data capabilities into clear, repeatable value for customers. A key focus of my work is building scalable Customer Success infrastructure for a growing payer footprint. This includes developing implementation and adoption playbooks, standardizing health-plan onboarding processes, and implementing modern tools and CRM best practices, including SmartSheets-based implementation tracking, to improve execution, transparency, and accountability. My efforts are centered on increasing solution stickiness, accelerating time-to-value, and driving ARR growth through renewals and expansion by embedding HiLabs’ solutions into critical payer workflows. I’m passionate about helping healthcare stakeholders modernize legacy processes and unlock meaningful outcomes through better use of data and AI/ML solutions.
