Ware, England, United Kingdom
For the past four years, I have studied at the University of East Anglia. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a strong foundation in critical thinking and analysis, which I am keen to utilise in a professional setting alongside my passion for international politics. Professionally, I enjoy solving problems creatively and working directly with people. I take pride in the work I have had the opportunity to do and consistently apply my dedication and organisational skills to derive effective solutions to various challenges.
During this time my key responsibility was to draft and write policy responses to concerned constituents. These tasks both improved and relied upon my organisation and written communication skills to effectively address and respond to constituent concerns. Another key responsibility I contributed to was the preparation of briefs, here I was required to collect and understand material from both parliamentary and media-based sources to prepare written briefs on particular issues McDonagh was concerned with, for example, I prepared elements of a brief on intergenerational wealth disparity ahead of a meeting of the Treasury Committee. My time was split between the Parliamentary Office and the Constituency office in Morden. On a standard week, I would work Thursday and Friday in the latter where I aided in preparations for a fundraiser held on July 4th 2023. Furthermore, I wrote sections of and helped design canvassing and online material for the constituents of the Mitcham and Morden area. I was extremely grateful for the opportunity to work in Dame Siobhain McDonagh's offices for a month. I found it to be a good test of my skills in organisation, time management, presentation, and communication while also helping to develop my skills in active listening, data analysis, research skills, and decision-making.
