In 2010, I graduated from Bangalore University, India with a first class degree. During my bachelors I studied Genetics, Biotechnology and Biochemistry as core subjects. I obtained my Masters in Biotechnology from Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. I joined the Institute of Fundamental Studies (IFS), Kandy, Sri Lanka as a fresh volunteer research assistant where I had the opportunity to involve in a Water Quality improvement project under a special project carried out by Water Board, Sri Lanka. Later I was given the opportunity to participate in a Molecular Biology research at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka under the supervision of Dr. H. A. M. Wickramasinghe (Senior Lecturer). My master’s dissertation was conducted in consultation with Dr. H. A. M. Wickramasinghe where I examined Molecular Characterization of Aspergillus oryzae standard strain RIB 40 and locally isolated strain using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD). During my MSc research period I had hand full of experience in many molecular biological techniques such as Use of PCR technology for Aspergillus 0ryzae species identification which includes; DNA isolation, PCR, Gel electrophoresis etc. In 2013 I joined Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (Pvt) Ltd, which is one of the leading global testing, inspection and certification body. In my current position at Sri Lanka Standards Institution, which is the national standards body of Sri Lanka I am engaged in testing of wide variety of food samples using national and international standards. Over the years I have acquired proficiency in Performing new and existing methodologies operating using analytical instrumentations such as HPLC-MS, GC-MS, GC-FID/ECD, Headspace-GC, FTIRS, UV-VIS (Ex: Aflatoxin, Sudan, Benzoic & Sorbic, Pesticides Analysis) . I’m capable of Developing, establishing and validating testing methodologies used to control new materials, production intermediates or final products. Furthermore my responsibilities include Setting up new or existing analytical methods for identification of compounds. I have extremely solid data analysis/interpretational skills.
