I am an aspiring ED Physician. I was drawn to this field because of its fast paced nature and its immediate role in the outcome of an individuals life. This notion was also supported by my mother who was an RN in the Emergency Department. I believe that it is my moral obligation to do the most good for the most amount of people, and Emergency Medicine provides the best answer to this calling. I am an Emergency Department Volunteer at Saint Luke's East Hospital in Lee Summit, MO. I am also the Founder of HSAH--High Schoolers Against Homelessness-- at Blue Valley Northwest High School. Here we work directly with the ICNA food pantry in Raytown MO where we pack food boxes and distribute them in heart of the city.

Here, I work with Physicians, Nurses, and other staff to help patients and parents/guardians to the best of my legal ability. I regulate patient charts and dispose of bodily fluids.I make sure patients are comfortable and relay messages between the provider and the visitor. I make sure that patients are not NPO before serving the their company water/food. I restock linen, as well as restock equipment like ECG/EKG Leads, IV supplies, Gauze, etc.
In patient recovery, there is not a lot of patient interactions. However, I have been able to familiarize myself with the technology, and the other tools used. Here I was introduced to the body leads, I am also in charge of cleaning patient rooms and disinfecting them. I also manage the gurney system, and make it so that each unused room has a gurney in it that has been properly sanitized and covered. For the patient's I do get to interact with, I try to make them more comfortable. Weather that means warm blankets or new sheets, I am the one the charge nurse/attending physician relies on for this matter.
