As Vice President of Umoja, I lead writing workshops initiatives that empower students and families through education, community engagement, and prevention-focused programs addressing poverty, mental health, and safety. Through Umoja I conducted a four-month study examining the social and emotional experiences of first- and second-generation immigrant youth in the Fargo community. analyzed responses to identify challenges around cultural identity, first-generation pressures, and navigating multiple cultures. Findings were shared with Umoja Inc. to help supporting immigrant youth and fostering cross-cultural connection. Auditioned for FargoTEDx with this topic (not selected) and later discussed research and immigrant youth experiences at a regional conference roundtable for educators across multiple counties.
As Vice President of the Fargo Youth Initiative, I represent approximately 19,500 youth in the metro area, advising city leaders on policies and initiatives that impact local youth.
