Ming LU is a creative producer and business development consultant with a wide experience in cross-cultural communication. She was inspired to enter the world of entertainment by Jackie Chan’s films during her childhood and has built outstanding knowledge and extensive network in the Chinese and international entertainment industry. 2009-2014, Ming served as Senior Advisor at CMM-I, a leading media consulting firm where she provided strategic counsel and market entry intelligence to international media clients, building partnerships with the Chinese organizations, making business proposals, negotiating contracts, and developing businesses on behalf of the clients. Clients directly managed by Ming covered a wide range of areas in film, TV, music, publishing and new media, including German Films, National Geographic, Unifrance, BBC, ITV, Turner Broadcasting System, Sesame Street Workshop, Cartoon Network, Guinness World Records, All3Media, Robert Bosch Foundation, CASBAA, UKTI etc. Ming also initiated the first German Film Festival in 4 cities across China in 2013 which has now gone to its 10th year, and engaged in bringing China’s biggest players in entertainment to the international trade market each year with CMM-I being the exclusive China agent for MIPTV, MIPCOM and MIDEM. 2014-2018, as Director of International Distribution, VP of Production successively at Sparkle Roll Media that used to manage Jackie Chan brand exclusively in China, Ming was directly involved in financing, production and licensing projects including Jackie Chan's Dragon Blade, Railroad Tigers, Kungfu Yoga and The Foreigner, Feng Xiaogang's I Am Not Madame Bovary and Youth. Ming also worked on creating the documentary Down to Earth about Jackie Chan and his films. During the time, as Senior Investment Executive for the investment fund (scale of US$322 million) formed by Sparkle Roll Media, China Film Foundation, Cultural Assets Administration Office of Beijing, Ming was involved in equity investment including acquiring online ticketing operator Weiying and British VFX company Framestore. Ming also led the negotiation with Wild Bunch in the establishment of China-Europe Film Fund. In 2018, as Managing Director, Ming joined Facing East founded by Philip Lee, producer of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Cloud Atlas, Hero and The Revenant to oversee its businesses in financing, production, licensing for films and musicals in China.
As the Managing Director, Ming is in charge of FE's operation in China, establishing financial and administrative system in the Beijing office; Helping develop, package, finance, produce, market and license FE's film and TV projects as well as musicals; Providing creative advice/notes to FE's projects in development.
From 2014 to 2018, Ming worked as the Director of International Distribution, VP of Production successively at Sparkle Roll Media, which used to exclusively manage Jackie Chan brand in China, operating under the parent company Beijing Cultural Investment Holdings (Stock Code SHA: 600715), focusing on businesses in film and TV financing, production, distribution, marketing and talent management. Some of the projects Ming was directly involved in co-financing, co-production and international sales include Jackie Chan's Dragon Blade, Railroad Tigers, Kungfu Yoga and The Foreigner, Director Feng Xiaogang's I Am Not Madame Bovary and Youth, Director Ding Sheng's A Better Tomorrow 2018. Ming was also heavily involved in creating the documentary Down to Earth about Jackie Chan and his films. At the same duration, Ming also served as the Senior Investment Executive for the industrial investment fund China Film & TV Capital (scale of US$322 million) formed by Sparkle Roll Media, China Film Foundation, State-owned Cultural Assets Administration Office of Beijing (SCAAO), involved in evaluating and implementing corporate equity investment projects including acquiring online ticketing operator Weiying and British VFX company Framestore etc. Ming also led the negotiation with Wild Bunch on behalf of the fund in the establishment of China-Europe Film Fund in 2015.
