In celebration of the World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) week, WHO Western Pacific Region hosted “The Power of Young People in the Fight Against AMR”

Interviewed world-leading researcher, Professor Kim Jeong Seong from Seoul National University about the importance of tidal mudflats in absorbing carbon dioxide and how Kia’s Blue Carbon Project is moving us toward a more sustainable future.
Miss Earth is an international pageant recognized as one of the top 4 international pageants. Aside from the glamor and entertainment aspect of pageantry, with the slogan ‘Beauty for a Cause,’ Miss Earth is recognized as a pageant that strongly advocates for the protection and conservation for our biodiversity. Each year, delegates from over 85 countries gather at the host country to present environmental advocacies and participate in various environmental activities and most importantly, activities that allow cultural collision and interactions to take place. Judgement criteria strongly focusses on an international representative, thus scored not only on the presentation of the delegates, but considers interpersonal, international communication skills as a vital criteria. After placing as the 1st runner-up in 2021 Miss Korea national competition, I was sent as the representative of Korea to compete in 2022 Miss Earth. After a 3 month-long hybrid competition, Korea took their first win in a major international pageant. Communication Skills criteria judge for “AMR Innovation Challenge”— Youth Communication strategy competition for the awareness in antimicrobial resistance. Event was hosted by Singapore University of Social Sciences and supported by the World Health Organization.
