✍️ New Administrative Skills! Learning the importance of scheduling with a large team, balancing lots of individuals with different needs was a challenge I had never faced but am now very experienced with. Creating meeting agendas and minutes was also a new skill, understanding the importance of clear communication. 📰 The Newsletter! One of my jobs was compiling a weekly newsletter, highlighting the events of the week. I increased readership of this by 20% and recieved lots of positive feedback on its easily digestible and informative nature. This also meant learning new technical skills and software to format these in an aesthetically pleasing way. 👩💻 Teamwork! Finally, my role evolved this year to dealing with team dynamics, encouraging open and productive communication amongst the Exec leading to an incredibly successful year for PolSoc. I helped facilitate socials, our Midlands Careers Conference, and many more. I also developed into the ability to work closely with the President Dylan and learning how to balance our workloads and prioritise society success. Organising Social events within the Executive also helped to cultivate a positive work environment!

I gained my STA Level 2 Award in December 2023 and have been invited for regular work since that time. My skills have developed over my months of teaching, classroom management is a skill that I have honed, learning that different approaches are relevant for every class. Planning and creating schemes of work, tracking progression has also become a continuous part of my job. Customer service is heavily emphasised as well, learning to create positive interactions with clients on a regular basis to ensure returning business. I have also been very lucky to work with an incredibly diverse client base; adults, those with disabilities, parent and babies, often with very short notice and adapting very quickly.
I was given the responsibility to lead a team of 6 in running a holiday camp for children eligible for free school meals. Though it was at times challenging, it was ultimately very gratifying and taught me many lessons in a myriad of professional skills. My role was incredibly multifaceted. I was trusted with registration in the morning, learning data responsibility and administrative skills. Leading a team of 6 was deeply rewarding, receiving excellent feedback on efficiency and approachability as well as being gratified seeing the results. Safeguarding was also a huge aspect of my role, interacting with such vulnerable children.
In March 2024, I was elected by one of the largest societies at the University of Warwick (Politics Society) to run Perspectives Magazine. My job began straight away, creating content using Canva, Wix and running the Instagram and Twitter. This has also brought up new challenges including the creation of 3 print editions, learning how to manage a team to create the best end product possible. Alongside this, we have amassed a team of writers now at 200, creating unique pitches 3/4 times a week but also cultivating an environment of creativity where writers feel confident to approach with their own ideas. Another aspect of my job has been attracting guest speakers, interviewing them in front of large audiences and recording a podcast in a similar interview style, creating informative content for aspiring journalists like myself.
