Personally been in the propane & fuel oil business since old enough to hold a paint brush to paint tanks. (child labor laws didn't apply in the 1970's!). Know enough to surround myself with dedicated people that are smarter than myself / do their jobs better than me so I can look good! Turns on: smell of propane, high pitch whistle of a good gas consuming regulator on a cold winter's night, vapors coming from chimneys on a -20 degree January morning as the sun rises on a small town, smell of liquid chlorine in a nice big commercial pool. Weekend ski patroller at Plattekill Mtn in the Catskills. Turn offs: heat pumps, solar panels, wood stoves, non-carbonated beverages, traveling long distances to get winter propane, cold swimming pools. Specialties: Tightrope walking, weekend cardiothoracic surgery, solving international humans rights violations, drinking Sam Adams since he was a brewer & a patriot. 2023: Opening Strongtown Self Storage, Ferndale, NY. Great ski area originated by the Town of Thompson in 1957 (part of which was on my great grandmother's land she sold to the Town for $5000), 85 mi north of NYC, 155 acres, endless snowmaking water, on NYS 17, easy to get to, great terrain, good bones. Bringing it all back with more trails, lifts, new snowmaking, 2 lodges, snowtubing with conveyor lift, lessons, all new rental ski/ snowboard equipment and snow-tubing park. Summer we have a full fun-park with go-karts, bumper boats, mini golf, fun slide, batting cages. Bringing a small ski area back to its full potential, getting kids on skis is the goal in addition to serving tasty waffles slope-side.
