Mike is chair of Allen Matkin's Joint Venture and Tax Department. Mike's expertise is in tax, real estate development and finance. He is an expert on acquisition, development, leasing and financing of matters associated with regional shopping centers. He also provides expert counsel on a variety of matters relating to office, hotel and residential development. Mike's clients include some of the nation's leading real estate developers and investors. As an expert in federal income tax matters, he routinely advises clients in connection with structuring partnerships, joint ventures and limited liability companies to achieve the optimum income tax result. He has extensive experience in the tax aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency, and the consequences of debt restructuring upon both borrowers and lenders in connection with both judicial and nonjudicial foreclosures, as well as reorganizations involving loan workouts, partnership modifications and bankruptcy proceedings. Mike has significant experience in all aspects of corporate reorganizations and restructures, as well as in connection with federal and state tax controversies.
