About

I am an experienced GIS Analyst and Marine Scientist. Having worked on a multitude of environmental, climate resilience, coastal flood vulnerability, and planning support projects, my strongest skills include: conducting in-depth geospatial analyses, environmental model building, creating automated analysis tools, quality control and data cleaning, researching current best practices, and creating decision support tools. Additionally, I am extremely proficient in learning and adapting to new tools, technologies, and workflows. Details on some of the most notable projects that I have worked on can be found on my online portfolio: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/fc704ab21da44ecd9369b71029a5d3db

Experience

  • GIS Coordinator at Rockingham Planning Commission
    Oct 2024 - Present · 1 yr 9 mos

  • GIS Specialist at Town of Ipswich
    Oct 2023 - Oct 2024 · 1 yr 1 mo

    • Revitalized the town's use of GIS by finding new opportunities for implementation of geospatial technology and analyses, leading to improvements in data driven decision making • Collaborated with the town Planning Department to perform planning analyses and create geospatial applications for decision support and public outreach • Performed a post-disaster flood analysis to compare the full extent of recent severe weather events to hypothetical models, and used it as an opportunity to find gaps and areas to improve in the Town’s data collection for town-wide emergency events • Utilized NOAA’s coastal inundation models to examine the town’s greatest areas of risk, in order to determine how structures, the road network, and other infrastructure would be impacted by severe flood and storm events • Redesigned the town’s GIS data storage system and methodology to be more accessible for GIS users • Trained users on GIS data processing and data management best practices, and created training materials for future reference • Designed an analysis, to compare relative water usage between different residential dwelling types (single family, multi-family, etc.) and find spatial relationships, in order to determine how to maximize water efficiency for future development designs • Improved field data collection methods and streamlined post-collection data processing through the design and implementation of Esri’s Survey123 and Field Maps applications, as well as providing training on using GNSS technologies for more precise data collection • Initiated and spearheaded cross-departmental collaboration efforts to identify existing data silos and gaps within the organization, fostering enhanced data sharing and integration, thus optimizing operational efficiency and decision-making processes • Updated the town’s reference maps and created digital applications for them to be hosted on ArcGIS Online

  • GIS Intern at Maine Geospatial Institute
    Dec 2021 - May 2023 · 1 yr 6 mos

    • Created promotional story maps highlighting the organization’s GIS and remote sensing projects • Helped design and produce a survey and analysis on the geospatial workforce in New England to identify areas of interest for professional skill growth and additional training • Created a story map featuring instances that GIS has been used to benefit the people and communities of the State of Maine for public outreach • Presented projects at professional conferences

  • GIS Technician at University of Maine at Machias
    Sep 2021 - May 2023 · 1 yr 9 mos

    • Performed a site suitability analysis for implementing living shorelines anti-erosion green infrastructure across Machias Bay, Maine using models I created within ArcGIS Pro ModelBuilder • Created a web application using ArcGIS Online Story Map, which provided data and analyses to be used in conducting community flood resilience assessments • Performed a suitability index analysis on future residential development for five towns in Washington County, Maine using a model I created within ArcGIS Pro Model Builder • Created a custom Python script to check building and roadway flood risk with multi-level flood inundation and sea-rise scenarios • Projects were created with accessible interfaces and documentation for non-technical decision makers and the general public • Documented methods and metadata for created data and layers for usability in future applications

  • GIS Editor at Insight Global
    Nov 2021 - Feb 2022 · 4 mos

    • Provided quality control and editing of aerial photogrammetry land cover classifications for Microsoft's Bing Maps project • Projects involved in the process of improving computational bot machine learning
