A resident of Southern Nevada since November of 1966, Mike Henle has specialized in freelance writing for nearly 25 years. His work has included four stories in the real estate section of the New York Times. Henle is also a former 21-year employee of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, where he worked as a sports writer and real estate editor. His work has included serving as a media relations liaison and director of marketing. Nicknamed “Mad Dog,” Henle has spearheaded several special projects including the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Nevada Motor Sports Awards and Findlay Automotive Group’s Partners in Education program to benefit Child Haven in Southern Nevada. Henle’s freelance writing has included thousands of stories related to real estate, homebuilding, automotive and motor sports. He has also written four stories for the New York Times and has also been a correspondent for wire services. Henle also writes television and radio script and provides voice talent for both. I spearheaded the public relations element of the company while also writing and producing its radio spots and television commercials for the Southern Nevada market when Jack Matthews and Co., merged with Prudential Real Estate.

      I was named the Real Estate Editor at the Las Vegas Review Journal in 1985. At the time of assuming this role, the section was in its infancy stages. Las Vegas real estate market was accelerating with new homes surpassing national rates of growth. I began a process of interviewing key members of the real estate industry and featuring them in front-page stories. The colorful and informative stories led to the expansion to four sections in December of 1989, making it one of the largest section of the paper. Advertising also increase at least partially because of the allure of the section.

      During this period of my career, I started with the Review-Journal Sports Department covering high school athletics along with auto racing along with professional boxing. The tenure with the R-J also included designing and laying out the paper when not covering particular beats. Some of the more noteworthy coverage consisted of the Caesars Palace Grand Prix, Long Beach Grand Prix, Craig Road Speedway and UNLV basketball (during the 1977 NCAA Final Four in Atlanta). The coverage also include weekly columns on various topics.
