I am a physician and global medical leader with more than 30 years of expertise in medical and regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, clinical development, and bioethics. I have a longstanding passion for advancing medical safety science and improving outcomes for patients through responsible, bioethical decision-making, which has led me to my current role at Johnson & Johnson as Chief Medical Officer, Innovative Medicine. In this role, I am a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer Senior Leadership Team, overseeing Global Medical Safety for both investigational and marketed products and Strategy & Operations. A central part of this work is benefit-risk oversight, ensuring at each decision point we are rigorously weighing what a medicine offers against what it asks of patients. The Office of the Chief Medical Officer is focused on keeping patients at the center of J&J’s efforts to confront the world’s toughest health challenges through leadership in Medical Safety, Epidemiology and Bioethics. This work supports healthcare that patients, families, and physicians can trust. Every decision ultimately reaches a real person and family navigating difficult moments, and I reflect on that responsibility often. J&J’s commitment to responsibility in medicine closely aligns with my own passion for bioethics and its role in guiding scientific progress. I am pursuing a master’s degree in bioethics, which continues to inform how I approach complex medical and scientific decisions as science and medicine evolve. Throughout my career, I have focused on leading with integrity, building strong and diverse teams, and fostering collaboration in service of patients and the broader healthcare community. I believe the best decisions are made in environments where it is safe to raise difficult questions and where diverse perspectives are openly heard.
