Carrying out all Recovery Coach responsibilities, with the addition of: -Supervising and leading recovery staff, delegating tasks to ensure that daily operations run smoothly and in alignment with program goals -Coordinating staff schedules to ensure appropriate staffing each day, as well as ensuring compliance with mandated breaks and lunch periods -Serving as the liaison between recovery staff and program leadership in order to identify, communicate, and address any work concerns -Playing a pivotal role in the intake and discharge process, assisting with assessments, orientation, and transition planning for residents
-Monitor and supervise residents, fostering a safe, positive environment conducive to their growth and recovery -Communicate with residents and ensure that their needs are being met -Facilitate rehabilitation groups with the ultimate goal of recovery -Aid in crisis intervention, employing empathy and active listening in order to validate residents’ emotions and help problem-solve solutions if applicable -Take residents’ vitals each morning, collecting valuable data about blood pressure, pulse, oxygen level, respiration rate, and temperature -Thoroughly document residents’ behavioral interactions and program progress, ensuring that a comprehensive medical record is maintained for every resident
-Helped support texters in crisis, practicing active listening, collaborative problem-solving, and safety planning -Navigated a wide variety of difficult topics such as suicide and self-harm, providing a safe space for texters to share their experience -Conducted risk assessments to evaluate how best to proceed, based on thoughts of suicide, plan, means, and timeframe -Connected texters with various resources according to their unique situation -Shared advice with other volunteer crisis counselors in the community who needed support -Regularly attended seminars to further hone crisis intervention skills
Worked for the CARE Project specifically: -Restocked, cleaned, and organized CARE Carts (filled with items meant to provide comfort and entertainment to patients) in the East Wing units, Emergency Department, and Behavioral Health Unit of the hospital -Provided 1:1 bedside support to specific patients when referred, demonstrating active and empathetic listening and providing safe, positive stimulation -Navigated the hospital and practice efficient communication with other hospital staff members when necessary

Worked at the Mangun lab specifically: -Interacted with participants, obtaining informed consent in experiments studying the neural mechanisms of attention -Helped prepare EEG caps, properly fitting them to each participant and gelling each electrode -Helped collect EEG and eye-tracking data for cognitive neuroscience experiments, taking notes when needed -Thoroughly cleaned EEG caps and electrodes -Read and discussed research papers and other relevant readings
