On—Site, hands on Construction Manager, Constructional Engineer and Architect from TU Delft aE and Hogeschool Utrecht. With 10+ years experience delivering sustainable housing and hospitality projects internationally — including executing a wood construction 16.000m2 roof extension ahead of time — in Germany; Michiel bridges architectural design and on-site execution, with a strong focus on the potential of high rise mass timber constructions His 2013 Quick Guide to LCA - for Architects and Policymakers - shows the big potential of CLT. This is strengthened by Michiel’s commitment to Executable, scalable, modular, flexible, reusable and future proof design systems (see 'Featured' below — Thesis) This MSc Thesis resulted in a change of the Idemat LCA Database, to correctly incorporate the Carbon Capture Credit of wood Specialities • Concept and technical detailing <> construction management • 3D / BIM coordination & quality assurance - to clear 2D execution plans for on-site • Stakeholder alignment across design and construction • Circular, energy-effective and natural system based building strategies The building industry can be climate-positive — Actively storing carbon, instead of being one of the mayor causes of industrial pollution. Cheaper, faster and better
Parkside Aschheim - my project at a cozy Family run company - consists of four identical five apartment buildings. Managing customer wishes while coordinating subcontractors, time planning and quality control.
6 Month planned sabbatical, slightly extended. Traveling Morocco, Kyrgystan and Vietnam
In my role at WKM, I have managed various Emergency Social Housing projects, including the renovation of a historic kazerne and energy-efficient upgrades to a large apartment building, under strict timelines. My focus has been on delivering quality results while enhancing sustainability and comfort in construction.

At LiWooD, I co-designed technical details and managed on site execution of a roof expansion project of 200 apartments on 12 separate 1950's buildings in Frankfurt, in under one year. From careful removal of the existing roof, to installing the foundations for the extension, to placement of the modular prefab elements. All while ensuring occupancy in the existing building stock. This involved close collaboration with architects and engineers to ensure adherence to safety, building regulations and functionality. I effectively oversaw project timelines and budgets, planning site logistics and ensuring resources were allocated efficiently. The project was delivered ahead of time.
In my role at ASSMANN BERATEN + PLANEN, I was responsible for overseeing the execution planning and construction management of significant projects, including the Amazon Web Services head office in Munich, as representative of Gensler UK. I ensured adherence to international sustainability standards and collaborated with diverse teams to enhance project delivery. My experience also included managing a portion of the Terminal 1 renovation at Munich Airport, where I honed my skills in resource allocation and compliance.
