As a dramaturg I specialise in new writing and I have a practical and holistic approach to working with writers and makers. I consider the writer / maker to be the expert on their own project and I seek to support and assist them in creating the best possible culmination of their ideas. I work with individual writers and with companies on a freelance basis. I have worked with Fishamble’s New Playwriting Clinic, Dublin Fringe Festival, Big Telly Theatre Company supporting emerging and established writers.
I am an award-winning playwright and theatre-maker with a background in comedy. Awards include the Stewart Parker/BBC NI Drama Award, the Hugh Leonard New Play Award, an Ondas Spanish Broadcast Award, and an Edinburgh Fringe First. Recent productions include ‘Bang!’ (Dublin Theatre Festival, 2021), ‘On A House Like A Fire’ — a collaboration with composer Brian Keegan (Bealtaine Festival and Irish tour, 2021–2024), ‘The Oasis’ (Gaiety School of Acting, 2024), and ‘The Somewhat Imagined, Partly Historical, True Story of the Forgotten Irish Playwright, Teresa Deevy’, created with the Dundrum Elders and Andrea Scott, (Mill Theatre, 2025). I am an alumnus of Six in the Attic with the Irish Theatre Institute, and a member of Create, Performing Arts Forum, Equity, and the Writers’ Guild of Ireland.
As an actor I am represented by Ronnie McCann at Brennan Acting Agency. http://www.brennanactingagency.com/agency/profiles/michelle.html
